New work: "Curious Snowy Egret"

"Curious Snowy Egret"   10 x 8
It seems that I always want to work small after I finish a large complicated painting.  And, I often turn to birds.  Since my husband and I started studying coastal birds, I have found an affinity for the Snowy Egret.  For one thing, I am fascinated by the orange feet.  This bird was contemplating something.  They are not usually eager to pose for photos unless they are actively feeding.  Then, photograph away, they are oblivious to anything but the food source.  I thought the pose was unique with a bit of an attitude.  The abstract pattern of reflected reeds was appealing as well as the blue pattern in the foreground.  The feet are in the water so I painted them as if they weren't and then glazed the water color over them.
