This turned out to be a very fun painting to do.  I find that I really enjoy the foamy water patterns and many shades of blue.

The problem came when I was doing the foreground.  There was so much blue and shades of lavender but way too much pattern.  I really had to simplify the patterns and break up the waves.  The sand area was also covered in water so I decided to make that a sand color to break up the blue.  It was all a matter of a back and forth- blue over sand, sand washed into the blue as it often does in reality.
